This is a player development program designed to challenge the U8 player who is looking for additional training and has a keen interest in taking the game to the next level. Players who play in the U8 academy will also play in the traditional Timbit soccer. This program is open to any U8 players who loves soccer. Secondly it is a place for talented players to be spotted and developed, with the possibility of occasional training with the U10 Academy.
We will have staff coaches running these sessions. Exposure to Senior Coaching staff in the program aids in the assessment of players for entry to the “Academy” level of play.
In the past we played in the Hfx County Tournament in July and our own Bedford Tournament in August with 3 or 4 teams each of girls and boys.
Peter McCormick will be the head coach for the U8 girls and Marc Butler will be the head coach for the U8 boys.
Program highlights:
- one hour on Friday nights @ CPA
- Sackville and Scotia are invited to train and have exhibition games with us each week
- extra tournaments and games will be scheduled for this group

- U8 Academy Coordinator Boys – to help coordinate games and tournaments
- U8 Academy Coordinator Girls – to help coordinate games and tournaments

Equipment: All players must wear shin pads. Socks should be worn over the shin pads. Sports shoes suitable for grass and turf are required. Cleats are not necessary. A water bottle, clearly marked with player’s name, should be brought to every session. Snacks are also encouraged. Children may wear a hat but ball caps with stiff brims are not allowed. Sunglasses are not permitted unless prescribed.
